The Northwest Regional Educational Laboratory (NWREL) is a
private, non-profit corporation providing educational research
and developm ent assistance. The Equity Center is one of 10
regional centers funded under Title IV by the U.S. Departm ent
of Education to provide assistance to Local Education Agencies
(LEAs) in the areas of national origin, race, and gender deseg
regation and educational equity.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: M aster's degree in education or.
related field required; Doctorate preferred. Three years' experi-:
ence developing and providing equity-related professional de
velopment activities for K-12 educators, including materials,
programs, and instructional techniques addressing race, gen-,
der, and national origin issues. Five years experience in public
or private education. Knowledge of equal educational opportu
nity philosophy and practice, including recent national develop-'
ments, federal anti-discrimination laws, cultural diversity, and
available equity resources. Bilingual ability, particularly in Span
ish, is an additional qualification, although not required for all
Equity Associates. Frequent travel by air and car; passport re
quired.

The Metropolitan Exposition Recreation Com m ission (MERC) is
R E IS S U IN G th e R EQ U EST FOR B ID S for the rem odeling of
Concession Stand “B ” at the Oregon Convention Center due to
an error in the specifications pertaining to ORS 279.027.
Sealed Bids for the OCC - Concession Stand ”B ” Project, must
be delivered to MERC Adm inistrative O ffices at 777 N.E. Mar
tin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Portland, OR 97232 to the attention of
Mark Hunter, Project Manager, no later than 11:00AM Pacific
Time (according to the US Naval O bservatory M aster Clock),
Tuesday, July 16, 2002. The bids will then be secured and
then opened and publicly read aloud at 3:00PM at the MERC
Conference Room.
The Work contemplated consists of all equipm ent, materials,
and labor as necessary to remodel the existing Concession
Stand In accordance with the construction docum ents. The
location of the work will be at 777 NE MLK Jr. Blvd., Portland,
OR 97232.
Each Bid must be submitted on the prescribed form and ac
companied by a certified check or cashiers check, or Bid Bond
executed on the prescribed form, payable to MERC in the amount
o fte n percent (10%) of the total bid amount. Successful Bid
der will be required to furnish the necessary additional bonds
for the faithful perform ance of the Contract and for the pay
ment of all persons supplying labor and materials as prescribed
in the Contract Documents.
This is a public works project subject to ORS 279.348 to
279.380. By signing and submitting a Bid for this project, the
Bidder certifies that it will com ply with ORS 279.350, requiring
payment of prevailing wage rates. Bidders m ust also use recy
clable products to the maximum extent econom ically feasible
in the performance of the contract work and be registered with
the Oregon Construction Contractor's Board pursuant to ORS
671.530. Each Bid m ust contain a statem ent as to whether
the Bidder is a resident bidder, as defined in ORS 279.029.
