Juneteenth Festival, June 19-
23.
Ju n etee n th is celeb rated
across the country in tribute to
the teen days in June, decades
ago when many African Ameri­
cans first learned o f President
Lincoln’s proclamation ending
slavery.
Locally, the House o f Exo­
dus is accepting booth space
for the festival, which will be
centered at M artin Luther King
Jr. B oulevard and Portland
Boulevard. For inform ation,

The parade will be held June
22 at 1 p.m. starting at N orth­
east Broadw ay and proceed­
ing up King to Highland Street.
The carnival promises fun for
all ages ; with live bands, soloists
and choirs scheduled to per­
form. Food vendors will feature
African, American, Mexican,
Asian and Ethiopian cuisine.
