NW Natural Issues
$36 Credit
(AP)— NW Natural Gas has filed
a request with the Oregon Public
Utility Commission to give its cus
tomers a one-time credit on their
June bills.
Residential customers could save
up to $36 next month, while commer
cial and industrial users could see
hundreds of dollars in savings.
“W holesale gas prices have con
tinued their decline and w e've been
aggressive in finding gas supplies
at the lowest costs,” said Mark
Dodson, NW N atural’s president.
NW Natural set its rates based on
the assumption that wholesale gas
prices would be higher. When prices
are lower than expected, NW Natu
ral is bound by state rules to return
the savings to its customers plus
interest, spokesman Bob Valdez
said.
Overall rates rose by 21 percent
in 2000 and by nearly 19 percent in
2001.
