In “A Cup of Light,” Nicole Mones returns to contem
porary China and the antique art world. She brings her
extensive knowledge of that country (where she began
doing business in 1977) to an exquisitely wrought, absorb
ing, highly personal story that moves through the veiled
world of imperial porcelain, where China’s soul resides in
its art, and resolves at a place where one must choose
between the perfect love of objects and the exhilarating yet
fragile love found with other human beings.
