gam e and the senior-laden lineup
cam e through over the final 9:42,
pulling aw ay from the H oosiers to
becom e the fourth straight No. 1
seed and eighth in the last 10
years to w in it all.
W hen D ixon and B axter, who
finished w ith 15 points and 14
rebounds, stepped up, the long
sh o ts stop p ed falling. Indiana
m ade ju st tw o o f its 11 shots from
behind the arc and its dream o f
being the first No. 5 seed to win a
national cham pionship and match

(A P) — M ichael Jordan said Thursday he probably w o n ’t
play next season unless his injured knee im proves.
“I would be surprised if I’m back play ing next year if I’m going
through the sam e situation that I'm going through right now ,’’
Jordan said after the W ashington W izards practice.
Jordan w as responding to com ments m ade by coach Doug
C ollins, w ho said on ESPN on W ednesday that h e’d be surprised
if Jordan plays next season.
“ D oug gave his o p in io n .... I'v e been saying all season long
that physically if I'm going though the sam e situation that ,'m
going through, surgery on m y knee, I w o u ld n 't play,” Jordan
said. “It w o u ld n 't be w ise for m e to play.”
