enables library patrons to reserve
a com puter to w rite and use online
tu to rials to p ractice co m p u ter
skills. A lso, free W eb, e-m ail, re ­
sum e building, spreadsheet and
w ord processing classes are avail­
able. Basically a free first class
ticket on the “D igital Freedom
T rain.” Better get your ticket now,
because w ith the current O regon
recession and budget crisis, you
never know how long M ultnom ah
C ounty can keep this access po r­
ta l o p e n to th e “ d ig it a l
underclass.” It w as closed during
the C hristm as holiday w eek due
to a staffing shortage.

duce a new round o f gentrification
and displacem ent o f the “digital
underclass.” O n the other hand,
those that “get onboard” this d ig i­
tal train in the hood today, m ight
be “livin large” in the ‘hood to­
morrow!
