National Night Out is celebrated every first T uesday in A ugust, throughout Portland and the entire nation. It’s a time for neighbors to come together - on front, porches, in streets or parks to get to know each other better and become more active in their communities as a way to help fight against crime. The annual Kerns Neighborhoods picnic is probably the largest and most successful “National NightOut” event in Portland. It is a real tribute to the neighborhood’s sprit. Last year, over 600 people attended. This year's highlights include a delicious free dinner, with burgers from Burgerville, entertainment for the whole family including live blues music, display by dozens o f area businesses and a f »bilious raffle.
