Child Prostitution Case Continues to Unfold
(AP) - Charges against three
Americans accused o f bringing
an 11-year-old girl to Vancouver,
British Columbia and forcing her
into prostitution were dismissed
Tuesday after a judge rejected
the child’s videotaped statement.
Provincial court Judge William
Kitchen ruled the girl’s video­
taped statement was credible but
not compelling enough by itself to
sustain charges against the two
men and one woman.
The girl, who lives in Portland,
is a ward o f the state and her legal
guardian said it wouldn't be in the
child's best interest to return to
testify.
But Kitchen said that although
the girl was told by police in the

Man Wanted for
Armed Robberies
On July 19,2001 the Clark County
Inter-Agency Gang Task Force served
three search warrants looking for the
suspects and evidence related to the
beating o f an African American man
by four white males that occurred on
the July 16. The warrants were served
at3101 Q S t.,3 2 1 4 Q S t.,a n d 5 1 5 W.
Evergreen Blvd. These locations are
the homes o f three o f the subjects
involved in the assault.
During the investigation o f this hate
crime, detectives from die Clark County
Inter-Agency Gang Task Force deter­
mined several o f the assailants appear
to be members o f the skinhead/white
supremacist sub-culture and that this
was a racially-motivated attack.
At this time, two o f the four subjects
are in the Clark County Jail. However,
two are still outstanding, and appears
to be fleeing the authorities Still wanted
for Assault II Malicious Harassment,
Malicious M ischief II are these two
men: Brent W. Luyster, also known as
‘/B J'andR oyJ. Thompson, also known
as “Roy Boy." If you have any infor­

them on similar charges.
The girl told Canadian authori­
ties in February that she met her
captors in a Portland shopping
mall and they promised she would
make money by going with them
to Canada.
Police said the girl was then
dum ped onto the s tre e ts o f
Walker and Melinda Mae Carter
aren’t in the clear yet.
The accused, all in their 20s,
have been held since February on
charges o f abduction o f a minor
under the age o f 14, living off the
avails of prostitution, sexual inter­
ference and assault.
They will remain in custody
and be returned to Portland where
videotape that she may be re­
quired to appear as a witness,
they and the Crown didn't do
enough to bring her here to testify
against the three.
“Much, much more should have
been done to attempt to secure
her attendance,” Kitchen said.
