There are several types ofhealth
care professionals requiring vary­
ing levels of education and train­
ing. Registered nurses (RNs)
are trained at the undergraduate
level, while nurse practitioners
(NPs) have gone on to special­
ize at the master’s level within
the nursing field. Physician as­
sistants (PAs) are licensed to
practice medicine with physi­
cian supervision. Doctors o f
Osteopathy and Medical Doc­
tors both complete four years
of post-graduate work to earn
the titles of DO and MD, re­
spectively, as well as the right
to prescribe medicine and per­
form surgery.
