Millie Jackson. With a jazzy smooth flair, Mark
Steele on piano, synthesizer and background vo­
cals will entice you with his fluid style. Mark has
performed with such greets as Clark Terry and
Lionel Hampton and with local favorites Calvin
Walker, JC Rico and Norman Sylvester.
Keeping you up and grooving is Jeff Ward on
drums and background vocals. Strong church
and family ties has given Jeff the support and
experience to be one o f the best drummers in the
Northwest. Jeffhas performed and recorded with
many local artists including Obo Addi. Playing
lead and rhythm guitar and also singing lead
vocals is Steve Smith. Steve has recorded with
John Smith, the founder ofN u Shooz and has also
performed in several theatrical productions in­
cluding 1999 Portland Center Stage’s production
ofW illiam Shakespeare’s "As You Like It.”
He has performed with local favorites Terry
Rob and Ike Willis.

The Rose Festival Court is
com prised o f 14 outstanding
w om en who w ere selected
from 14 P ortland-area high
schools by their respective stu­
dent bodies. Each Court Mem­
b er re p re se n ts her school
throughout the months o f May
and June at many community
events, including meetings with
business leaders, visits to hospi­
tals and meetings with a variety
o f civic groups.
To qualify for the Rose Festi­
val Court, young women must
be full-time students, members
o f their graduating classes, have
grade point averages o f at least
2.75, demonstrate good citizen­
ship and have good attendance
records. The candidates are
evaluated on character (50%),
