The Earth Com m unity C el­ ebration begins at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 28 in the South Park blocks right next to the Art Museum, the Oregon H is­ tory Center and the P ortland C e n te r for the P erform ing A rts betw een Salm on and M ain St. T here w ill be over fifty b o o th s f e a tu r in g E a r th - F r ie n d ly p r o d u c ts a n d organizaitons on the forefront o f su sta in al ility and in n o v a­ tio n . The O pen H ouse at th is U .S. A rm y C orps o f E n g in eers’ hydropow er pro ject will feature free guided boat rides. T he o n e-h o u r bof>t trips to the navigation lock w ill leave from The D alles Boat B asin aboard the 58-foot u tility boat “ Randy S. C um m ings” on the hour beginning at 10 a.m . and c o n tin u in g until 5 p.m . (exit 85 o f f In terstate 84). A lso featured from 11 a.m . to 5 p.m . w ill be free train rides leaving every 30 m inutes from the v isito r c e n te r at S eufert Park (exit 87 o ff Interstate 84). B alloons and refresh m en ts w ill be provided. T his trip includes a guided tour o f the pow erhouse during w hich v isito rs w ill have an inside look at a g e n erato r and the control room , and view a P ow erP oint g en e ra to r dem o n stratio n . An additional stop at the east fish ladder will provide a close-up view inside the fish counting room for a look at this y e a r’s record salm on run.
