Chevy Gives Scholarships to Atlanta Students

museum presents a Freedom Award to an individual whose
achievements in the struggle for civil rights have laid the foun­
dation for achieving global freedom. For 2001, Nelson
Mandela was the honored recipient.
Reaching Out to Focus: Hope
Automakers and suppliers have contributed nearly one-
third of the $60 million raised so far for Focus: Hope, a
Detroit community outreach organization that trains urban
youth for jobs in the auto industry. The organization hopes
to raise $75 million by September 2002.
General Motors Corp., Ford M otor Co. and
DaimlerChrysler Corp, are contributing a combined $11.5
million, while suppliers already have pledged $5.7 million.

' As a result of the Stellar Gospel Music Awards Chevrolet
Youth Choir Workshop Competition, five students were
awarded $1,000 each in scholarships. The competition is a
new component of the Stellar Gospel Music Awards.
The workshop competition was held in conjunction with
the 16th annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards, to offer young
gospel vocalists aged 14-19 an opportunity to improve their
vocal skills through voice and music instruction, meet and
interact with top gospel performers, showcase their talent and
win scholarships.
