Levinson is greatly inspired by
the union o f arts and politics. She
feels that Yiddish music is most
relevant today in two capacities:
as the voice o f a living tradition in
its own right, and also as a voice
o f today’s refugees and im m i
grants. She has sought out, in
particular,
Y iddish songs o f work and im
m igration as wel 1 as labor and im
m igration music from other cul
tures.
A preview performance will be
held at the Mittleman Jewish Com
munity Center, located at 6651 SW
Capitol Highway, Dec. 13 at 7:30

Tis the season for the return of
Jim Carrey and a little production
called“Dr. Seuss’ HowtheGrinch
Stole Christmas.” And unless
you’ve been living in a cave,
y o u ’ve probably caught the
Grinch’s face (with Carrey’s name
boldly emblazoned) on billboards
across the country.
But there’s one person who
may be over-Grinched already —
and it’s Carrey himself. On a re
cent visit to “The Tonight Show,”
the star felt the need to publicly
apologize for the massive doses
o f media coverage surrounding
the film, spending his airtime side
step p in g d isc u ssio n o f the
grumpy old character to prevent
audiences from choking on
Grinch-mania before opening
day.
It m ay have w orked.
Hollywood.com caught up with
Carrey to bring a little holiday
cheer. The result? Carrey engag
ing in some clowning around and
all the trimmings before the onset
ofGrinch fever.
