The 12th Annual Vancouver Arts Festival

The 12,h annual Vancouver Arts
Festival, ART & SOUL takes place
10 am. - 8 pm., Saturday, August
19; and 10 am. - 6 pm. on Sunday,
August 20 at Esther Short Park and
surrounding streets.
The ART & SOUL festival host
more than 200 artists this year.
Artists are returning from as far
away as the state o f New York.
Artists are also represented form
diverse areas o f the Northwest.
Vancouver Farmers Market booths
and food vendors will join the grand
display o f the artists work. There
will also be art demonstrations o f
glass blowing, wool spinning for
textile art, glass spinning, fusing,
raku pottery glazing and a wide
variety o f other arts demonstrated
and displayed.
Prices o f the art will range from $ 10
to several thousand dollars.
Artists range in age from 12 years
old to 85 years old.
In addition a wide range and variety
o f foods, there will be a wide variety
ofw ines for tasting. The microbrew
and wine tasting area involves more
than 14 varieties o f micro-brewed
beer, two varieties o f micro-brewed
and hand crafted root beer,
crème soda and strawberry
soda. Come early for the
root beer floats, because
they may not last long.
Profits from the micro­
brew and wine tasting area
will benefit the Vancouver
Arts Council, the Junior
Symphony o f Vancouver,
and Blue Parrott ’ s Not Just
for Children rheatre.

The traditional kick o ff for this
festival actually starts at 6 pm. on
Thursday at Sunrise Bagles, 808
Harney (Next to the Columbian).
This event is FREE and open to the
public. The public is invited to attend
and meet with up and coming
Vancouver Artist Corey Boehler.
This reception includes wine and
refreshment and a no host house
menu. ART & SOUL shirts will be
available at the reception. To
