Based on the true-life observations o f Christopher Isherwood, who wrote “The Berlin Stories” about his experiences in Berlin between 1929 and 1932, Cabaret tells the story o f an Englishwoman’s romance with an American writer set against the background ofa crumbling Germany at the start o f the Third Reich. With music and lyrics by John Kander and Fred Ebb, and book by Joe Masteroff, Cabaret features some o f the best-known songs in musical theatre, including “Willkommen,” “Tommorrow Belongs to Me,” “M oney," and “Cabaret.” Shindle is joining the company o f Cabaret directly from Broadway’s Jekyll & Hyde where she understudied the role o f Lucy. Theater credits include Into the Woods (Witch), City o f Angels (Bobby/Gabby), Joseph and the Am azing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Narrator), Anything Goes (Reno) and Children o f Eden (Yonah). Peterson also appeared in many pop videos in the 1980s including Duran D uran’s “W ild.” Cabaret is one o f the most popular musicals in the history o f American theater. This provocative new production, directed by Sam Mendes (Academy A ward winner for his directorial debut with “American Beauty, starring Kevin Spacey and Annette Bening) and co-directed/choreographed by Rob Marshall (ABC T V ’s recent “Annie”), became the theatrical sensation o f 1998 when it opened in New York C ity. It won 30 major award nominations and four Tony Awards, including Best Revival o f a Musical. The Broadway production continues to play to sold-out houses at the legendary Studio 54. The design team for Cabaret includes Robert Brill (sets), William Ivey Long (costumes), Peggy Eisenhauer and Mike Baldassari (lighting) and Brian Ronan (sound). kmhd 8 # ! , 2 £>£>£> Portland’s Premier Smooth Jazz Event o f the Summer.
