Oregon State University (OSU) is preparing to replace the roof o f
W eatherford Hall. This historic building consists o f two, three story
wings that step up to a five story central tower. The project includes the
seismic upgrade o f the existing roof structure, provision forroofpenetration
o f existing (and future) plumbing and mechanical utilities, replacement of
the existing concealed gutter copper flashing, repair and replacement of
the rain leader system, flashing, waterproofing and roof-tile replacement/
re -u se .
OSU plans to prequalify General Contractors who will be invited to
submit bids. The Request for Qualifications (RFQ) will be the process
used in compiling a short list o f General Contractors to bid the project.
General Contracting firms will be selected based upon their past
performance in on-time, in-budget completion o f major renovations of
higher education facilities. OSU will enter into a contract with the low
bidder for services to repairreplace the roof and construct associated
improvements for the residence hall.

Metro is a regional government responsible for solid waste planning and
disposal o f waste in the Portland metroprJjta^area—Metro Central Transfer
Station (MCS) is located at 6161 NW 61st in Portland, OR. MCS is one of
two transfer stations owned by Metro. Approximately 1,500 tons o f waste
is received each day. Materials that can be economically recycled are
removed from the waste stream and the remaining waste is compacted and
trucked to the Columbia Ridge Landfill in Gilliam County, Oregon. MCS is
operated by Browning Ferris Industries (BFI) under contract to Metro.

Rebuilding The Baler At Metro Central Transfer Station REP #00-10-REM
The Regional Environmental Management Department o f Metro, the
regional government organized under the laws o f the State o f Oregon and
the 1992 Metro Charter to provide services for Multnomah, Clackamas and
Washington Counties is requesting proposals for rebuilding the Baler at
Metro Central Transfer Station (RFP#00R-10-REM).
The successful proposer will rebuild the existing C&M Model MSB 310
in two phases. During Phase I the Contractor will shut down the baler for
a maximum o f three (3) weeks to replace the existing hydraulic unit, the
strapper and associated electrical power and controls. In addition the
Contractor will inspect, and take measurements o f the wearing surfaces,
fasteners, knives and cylinders which must be replaced or rebuilt during
Phase II.
