perform tw o different program s as
part o f its tenth annual “A m erican
C horeographers Show case” (A C S)
th ro u g h Ju n e 24, 2 000, in the
N ew m ark T heatre at the Portland
C enter for the Perform ing Arts.
Program X will include the Portland

A Uss in W onderland, a multi-media,
c o n te m p o ra ry in te rp re ta tio n o f
L ew is C arro ll’s classic ch ild ren ’s
b o o k “ A lic e ’s A d v e n tu re s in
W onderland.” M cIntyre’s A liss in
W o n d erla n d uses an en o rm o u s
television screen in place o f the
OBTperforms “American Choreographers Showcase”
trad itio n al r a b b it’s h o le as the
launching point for the tale, as A liss
is lured by the W hite Rabbit on a
zany jo u rn ey through a 20“’-century
m edia w onderland, com plete with
b a c k d ro p m o n ito rs d is p la y in g
television im agery. T he ballet is set
to m usic ranging from G eorges
B izet’s Carm en to the crooning
sounds o f Sam m y D avis, Jr. A liss in
W onderland is a co-production with
Fort W orth D allas Ballet, w here it
p re m ie re d in N o v e m b e r, an d
N ash v ille B allet, w h ere it w as
perform ed in A pril. T he D allas
M o r n in g S ta r c a lls A lis s in

her students have contributed m ore than $62,000 to the Sisters o f the Holy
N am es o f Jesus and M ary at M arylhurst College, Lake O sw ego, Oregon.
T he donations help support the O rd er’s retirem ent and m edical assistance
program s.
Late N ite Catechism is perform ed on Thursday, Friday and Saturday
evenings at 8 pm. and on Sundays at 2 pm in the Portland Art M useum ’s
M ain Street T heater, 904 SW M ain Street at Park A venue, Portland,
Oregon.
