I « 9 rh« Portl»«d O tm n re r Imago Theatre returns to Portland after a successful run o f “Frogs, Lizards, Orbs and Slinkys” at the acclaimed New Victory Theatre on New Y ork’s 42nd Street. The show will play in Portland up to May 28 at the company’s home base at 17 SE 8lh Ave. “ Response to the production has been overwhelming” says Carol Triffle, Co-Artistic Director and Co-Creator o f “F rogs...” In a glowing April 6, 2000 New York Times review, Lawrence Van Gelder writes that “Frogs..." “is a gently humorous, charmingly creative show ...supple, talented troupe o f five from Portland, Oregon, with a well-developed taste for mischief is providing a novel d iv e rs io n ...G ig g le s g a lo r e ...c le v e r entertainm ent.. captivating.. .variedm ovem ent.. .evokes outright laughter, oohs and enthusiastic applause from children and adults alike...W ith all its movement, ‘Frogs, Lizards, Orbs and Slinkys’ turns out to be an exercise in audience relaxation and inventive fun.” A flock o f penguins playing musical chairs in a snow storm, two- faced crocodiles, and a giant paper bag have all become instant hits on Broadway. Katie Griesar has composed a new score for the show. “Katie has created a wonderful contemporary sound, which certainly brings the production into the new millennium” enthuses Co-Artistic Director and Co-Creator Jerry Mouawad. Imago fans that have seen the show in the past will be happily surprised by the new elements, particularly with the added whimsical characters, larger cast and enhanced music. Performing in the production are: Graydon Kouri, Kim Dahle, Michael Vertlieb, Quinn Casey and Ryan Custer.
