in a phenom enal fashion that most
new artists can only dream about: a
debut that soared to the top o f charts,
m ulti-form at radio and video success,
prestigious industry aw ards, ongoing
international m edia coverage and a
featured spot on one o f the y ear’s
m ost popular concert tours.
In addition,T rin-i-tee 5:7 perform ed
on the nationw ide N G Nation Tour
and historic Pay-Per-View event with
Kirk Franklin and C eC e W inans and
w ere the first gospel group ever to
perform at the ultra-trendy New York
Spring Fashion Show. Most recently,

spokespersons for the Revlon Gospel

and contributed to the success o f the
The P rince o f E gypt Inspirational
Soundtrack.
A lthough cutting edge in style, Trin-
i-tee 5:7, named for a verse in the New
T estam ent book o f 1Sl John, is clearly
about substance reliant solely upon
G o d ’s grace. T he group’s lyrical
c l a r ity a n d m u s ic a l c a c h e , a
contem porary blend o f R&B, hip-hop
and gospel, is the artistic expression
o f the genuine and unapologetic
Christian faith o f these young w om en.
T rin-i-tee 5:7 consists o f tw o form er
high school friend from New Orleans,
C hanelle H aynes and Angel Taylor,
and new m em ber A drian A nderson.
A ppropriately, A n derson's new role
with Trin-i-tee 5:7 is a fitting reflection
o f th e s p irit o f th e g ro u p : th e
friendship and sisterhood that springs
n a tu r a lly fro m th e ir s h a re d
c o m m itm e n t to G o d a n d th e
recognition o f His grace. It was
friendship that brought A nderson to
T rin -i-te e 5:7. In her role as a
successful m akeup artist, she had
w o rk e d w ith th e trio and th e ir
labelm ates for tw o years. I alw ays
c a re d about my artists and w as
thankful that G od al lowed me to touch
them last and pray for them before
th ey w ent out; I grew so m uch
spiritually being a part o f the B-Rite
M usic Family.
“ I also knew I’d have to be ready for
a lot o f hard w ork,” says Anderson.
“A nd I w anted to m ake sure I would
be able to m ake a real contribution. I
knew people respected them , and the
songs really m inistered to m e.” As
soon as A nderson said “yes,” the
trio w as o ff and running to concert
dates, m eeting w ith producers, and

SPIRITUAL LOVE. Fortheir highly-
anticipated sophom ore release on B-
R ite Music, the trio co-w rote four
songs with their producers. " W e ’ve
w ritten songs befo re, but d id n ’t
record them ,” says Taylor. “G etting
to sing our ow n songs w as a real
th rill.. they are dear to our hearts.”
“ If They O nly K new ,” one o f the
song co-written by the trio, is a smooth
R& B num ber that expresses their
»
desire to com m unicate their Christian
faith. O ther co-w riting credits on
SPIRITU A L LOVE include the fun,
yet in-your-face “ How You Living,”
“We Know,” a youthful anthem aimed
at reaching a m ass audience with the
m essage o f G o d 's grace, and the retro
show -stopper “ Put Y our H ands,”
w hich pays hom age to the 7 0 ’s hits,
“Back In Love A gain” and “ Put Y our
Hand In The H and.”
W orking with so m any heroes has
been a treat for the w om en o f Trin-i-
tee . “K irk’s like a big brother to u s ...
it’s alw ays jo y to w ork with him,”
says Anderson. For A ngel Taylor,
m eeting gospel legend T ram aine
Hawkins was a moment to remember.
“W e spent a couple o f hours with her
in the studio, ju st talking,” she says.
“That was a real th ri 11 for me, because
she was such a big influence... I found
out I could sing w hen I was five,
trying to duplicate w hat she did on
her alb u m s .” C h a n e lle H aynes
appreciates H aw kins’ w illingness to
share hard-won w isdom with the trio.
“She told us all about the criticism
she received at first, for wearing

their own particular gifts and honed
their vision for reaching out to a

oriented groups that share the urban
airwaves with them, Trin-i-tee 5:7 has
an u n c o m p ro m isin g m essag e o f
sexual purity and personal faith that
goes against the grain o f popular
culture. In “ My B ody,” a young
