Winter Preparedness Tips
1. Assemble a disaster supplies kit for your
home. Start with a flashlight, battery-
powered radio, extra batteries, food and
bottled water.
2. Be sure that chimneys and other heating
sources are checked and cleaned thoroughly
before cold weather sets in.
3. Winterize your vehic le before winter storm
season.
4. Put together disaster supplies kits for each
car. Include blankets, a shovel, a first aid
kit, a flashlight with extra batteries, and a
brightly colored cloth you can tie to the
antenna to alert others if you need
assistance.
5. Stay tuned for storm warnings and be alert
to changing weather conditions.
6. Avoid unnecessary travel in winter weather.
7. Take an American Red cross First Aid aid
course to learn how to treat frostbite,
hypothermia and exposure tot he cold.
