America will host Bishop Albert L.
Jamison. Chairman o f the Board of
Directors, Gospel Music Workshop
o f America, Inc. (GMWA). Bishop
Jwnison is scheduled to be in Port­
land Thursday, September 30* and
Friday, October 1’ to officiate the
Robe Dedication Ceremony o f the
Portland-Vancouver Chapter. A spe­
cial worship service will be held Sep­
tem ber 30*. 7:00 pm, at New Hope
M issionary Baptist Church (3725
N. G antenbein) followed by the
Robe Dedication Ceremony Octo­
ber 1“, 7:00 pm at New Hope Mis­
sionary Baptist Church.
The Gospel Music W orkshop o f
America, Inc. is a national organi­
zation formed in 1967 by the late
Reverend James Cleveland to orga­
nize gospel musicians and singers
all over the country. This organiza­
tion would bring people ot many
talents together for an annual con­
vention where they may display their
talents while also learning about
gospel music. This organization has
assembled educators from around
the country to help educate others
about gospel music. Collaboratively
this organization has assembled gos­
pel announcers, ministers, choir di­
rectors, recording artists, singers,
m usicians, teachers, and youth in
order to perfect the art and business
o f gospel music.
In March 1996, Bishop Jamison
was elected Chairman o f the Board
o f Directors for the Gospel Music
W orkshop o f America, Inc. Prior to

Board o f Chapter Representatives.

Mrs Liggins was bom March 11, 1*50, in Carlsbad, N.M. Her maiden name was Brison. She lived in the San
Fernando Valley, Calif., area for many years until moving to the Portland area seven years ago. She was a homemaker
and a professional seamstress. She married Calvin Liggins in 1966.
Survivors include her husband; sons, Gerald of Aloha and Jamel and Calvin, both o f Beaverton; daughter, Keitra M.

A memorial service was held at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 27, 1999, in Ainsworth United Church o f Christ for
Donnie Lee Hall, who died Sept. 21 o f lung disease at age 49.
Mr Hall was bom Sept. 27, 1949, in Brackettville, Texas, and was raised in Portland. He graduated from
Jefferson High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a maintenance specialist and
welder for the Veterans Affairs in Vancouver for about nine years before his retirement in 1993. He was a member
o f Portland; and six grandchildren.
Private interment will be in Lincoln Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Killingsworth Little Chapel ot the Chimes.
