1999 Classic
Festival of
Animation
Animation fans will delight as the
1999 Spike & Mike’s Classic Festival
of Animation arrives in Portland. This
year’s show showcases world class ani­
mated short film premieres from Swe­
den, Germany, Belguim, France, En­
gland and the United States. The '99
Festival’s limited engagement begins
April 23,1999 and plays daily through
April 29, 1999.
The 1999 program features ani­
mated films for a wide range of artis­
tic tastes and myriad brands of humor.
Spike and Mike, who are also noted
for their Sick and Twisted Festival of
Animation and producing the first two
Beavis and Butthead films, are once
again going back to their roots and
unleashing their original Festival of
Animation for sophisticated audi­
ences. The humor and charm of this
year’s festival showcases cutting edge
animation achievements in cel, clay,
computer, and stop motion.
Featured Oscar winner, GERI S
GAME, created by PIXAR Studios,
Look Who’s 5
whose collective genius also brought
Disney’s Toy Story to life, presents one
of the most remarkable innovations in
computer animation involving sculp­
ture, modeling, character development
and Cloth Technology R &D. Two
time Oscar winner, Aardan Anima­
tions, who created Wallace and
Gromit, will introduce a new whimsi­
cal cast of characters in their epic,
STAGE FRIGHT. This film is unsur­
passed in its character development,
story and clay animation technique. A
surefire all age crowd pleaser. Accom­
panying this star studded 13 short film
line-up is also T.R.A.N.S.I.1 which is
four years, 30,000 cels and $400,000
in the making truly ranking as one of
this year’s most exquisite English short
film premier.
Tickets are $6 for adults, $3 for
children, seniors, and matinees and $5
for students. Tickets are available at
the Cinema 21. Spike and Mike’s Clas­
sic Festival of Animation is appropri­
ate for all ages.
