Jam On The Water
More than a dozen jazz musicians will headline
this year’s “Jam On The Water,” the annual jazz
cruise benefiting Mt. Hood Jazz Festival, on the Port
land Spirit (front and Salmon Streets), on Sunday,
April 25, from 4-7 p . m .
The jam session is held on three separate stages
on each of the Portland Sprits three decks, and will
again feature a diverse group lineup of jazz musi­
cians that blends national headliners with local art­
ists. Alphabetically, the 5,h annual “Jam On The Wa
ter” will include:

ER,” returns to the Benson Hotel at 7 PM

The dance/concert, fourth in a series of jazz-
lated “Madness” events produced by John
endeborn, will feature a 20-piece Latin or-
lestra playing music spanning the ‘40s and
Os, sounds that originated with the bands of
lachito, Perez-Prado, M ario Bauza, Tito
uente and Tito Rodriguez.
Also performing will be premier Portland-
■ea band Pa’lante. As an added attraction,

“Latin Madness 2, Presented by YOUR
LOCAL C O M PL E TE W IRELESS CE N ­
TER,” will be in the Benson Hotel’s Mayfair
Room. Food and bar service will be available
in the room. The May 2 event, celebrating
Cinco de Mayo (May 5), repeats last year’s Latin
Madness sellout show.
Tickets are $30 for singles and $275 for a
table of 10. Reservations may be made by

proceeds will aid the Portland State Univer­
sity jazz studies program under the direction
of Charley Gray.
