W hite Bird Presents Acclaimed Company

The Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall
White Bird will present the wildly in­
novative and athletic Parsons Dance
Company on Tuesday, April 20, 7:30 PM
at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall.
This is the fifth company White Bird is
presenting in its first subscription series
“A Season O f Discovery.”
The 9-member company has been
eliciting raves from audiences and crit­
ics ever since its founding in 1987. Tour­
ing constantly, they recently spent six
weeks in Sydney, Australia, and The
Sydney M orning H erald exclaim ed,
“they dance like demons, fast and furi­
ous - they have that fantastic buzz of
New York energy.” The Toronto Star has
stated, “ It does not take long to see why
Parsons and his company are one of the
hottest tickets in contemporary Ameri­
can dance.”
The company was founded by David
Parsons, who, from 1978-1987, was a
leading dancer with the Paul Taylor

ographer. Parsons has been hailed for
athleticism, wit, and immense creativity.
He has choreographed over 50 works for
The Parsons Dance Company and has re­
ceived countless commissions from festi­
vals and dance organizations worldwide,
including the Ja c o b ’s Pillow Dance Festi­
val and the New York City Ballet.
Since its beginnings, T he Parsons
Dance Company has given over 700 per­
formances on five continents. They have
been presented by the most distinguished
th eaters in the w orld, in cluding the
Kennedy Center in W ashington, DC,
Teatro La Fenice in Venice and the Teatro
Munipal in Rio de Janeiro.
White Bird will conclude its first sea­
son with the Limón Dance Company on
W ednesday, May 26, 7:30 PM at the
Arlene Schintzer Concert Hall. Celebrat­
ing its 51“ year, the company will perform
classic works by José Limón and Anthony
Tudor, as well as a new piece by the es­
teemed choreographer Doug Varone.
