Close Call
As a kid, C raig H oneycutt
(g u ita r/v o c a l lead) narrow ly
missed being dosed up on Ritalin
and riding to school in one of
those little busses with the tinted
windows. After just a couple of
weeks in “ s p e c ia l”
classes, his teachers real­
ized that C raig instead
belonged in a class for
genius students.
(which has been a multi format
radio hit, and whose video has
enjoyed rotation on MTV) on the
back porch. Drummer Nate Brown
set up his kit in the kitchen to
record “Good Thing” (which will
be the album’s second single.)
With rooms big enough for
banquets or small enough for
tea, and hallways as long as
well, long hallways - the diver­
sity of the architecture gave
each space its own distinct
sound and feel. Honeycutt re­
corded his vocals for the
album's first single “Hooch”

Ghost stories
For their Blackbird/Sire
debut, EVERYTHING
took to recording in a nine­
teenth century mansion
on a thousand acres of Vir­
ginia woods. They set up
shop with producer Jim
Ebert (Soul Coughing, Madonna,
Ice Cube, Everclear) and inadvert­
ently set out to wake the dead:
“There was a little extra mojo
a ro u n d ,” explains H oneycutt.
“The first night we were there I
caught a glimpse of a ghostly wisp
in one of the hallway mirrors. I
