Reason, along with KATU’s Rhonda
Shelby will host Portland’s T hird An­
nual O scar Night America. Mr. Rea­
son is an active voting M em ber of the
Academy of Motion Picture Arts and
Sciences (the Academy); as such he
will be sharing insights into the nomi­
nation and voting procedures of the
Academy throughout the program.
Oscar Night America is a fundraiser
for Volunteers of America of Oregon
and the Oregon Film and Video Foun­
dation, and is Portland’s only Academy
A wards G ala au th o rized and sanc­
tioned by the Academy of Motion Pic­
ture Arts and Sciences. All guest attend­
ing will receive an official program ,
identical to the program distributed at
the main event in Hollywood.
T he awards will be Sunday, M arch
21st, from 4 to 9 P.M., at the Sheraton
at the A irport.
Kirk Green will be doing several singing engagements
throughout Portland.

Kirk G reen, the nationally renown
singing sensation b ehind the m axi­
single, “Make (rood Love To M e” will
be taking his class-act perform ance to
vveral entertainm ent venues through­
out Portland.
T he vocalist/ pianist/ producer is
scheduled to play at the Cleo-Lillian
Social C lub on M arch 19 and 26 as a
grand show of support to preserve this
historic landm ark that he regards as “a
place that has given the Northeast com­
munity a sense of worth and purpose."
T h e C leo-L illian Social C lu b is
under threat of closure by the City of
Portland due to com plaints by neigh­
bors about too m uch noise from m em ­
bers and guests leaving the club. In re­
sponse, the managem ent has proposed
a plan to change their musical form at
to feature Jazz and Blues artists. Kirk
G reen was rehired by Xavier Brown­
ing of C leo’s because of his mass ap­
peal and ability to attract a m ature au­
dience that values and respects neigh­
borhood viability. G reen understands
the establishm ent’s dilem m a and has
readily agreed to help make
Cleo’s a positive com m unity
environment.
K irk’s musical style is di­
verse a n d w ell-received by
m ainstream listeners. He can
b e h e a rd o v er th e ra d io
through the KKJZ station that
occasionally plays his music.
Kirk will be launching three
new C D ’s featuring Jazz, R&B
and Gospel where some of his
original compositions are fea­
tu red . H e has ex ten d ed his
musical influence oversees to
T hailand with the recent re­
lease of his vocals hit entitled
“R enato C urato.”
Kirk Green will also be per­
forming at the following loca­
tions in Portland:
