From the Performing Arts Cen­ ter at Portland’s Jefferson High School and under the direction of Julane Stites, this m ulti-ethnic company of advanced dance stu­ dents performs extensively from the Western United States and Canada to Russia. “These kids are artists...they D hetörh to the ( lshore T heatre i r a s take the audience with them into a world o f illusion where movement is the vocabulary that persuades us to suspend our disbelief.” (Martha Ulman West, Dance Critic). The dancers come from through­ out the Northwest to study dance in-dept and to work with profes­ sional choreographers. Alumni of The Jefferson Dancers are cur­ rently performing professionally in many U.S. and foreign cities, including New York, Los Angeles, M ontreal, D enver, K yoto and Milan. The Theatre opens at 6 pm for a social hour.
