Legal Immigrant Aid The Clinton administration released their plan that would allow legal immigrants to receive a $1.3 billion medical and food- stamps benefit package. The change is part o f a revision in the welfare laws. It is pro­ jected to help cover at least 132,000 ethnic people for the next five years. Costly Proscription Drugs The cost o f out-of-pocket prescription drugs has increased dramatically. Even stan­ dard co-payments have doubled for drugs that patients have been using for years Many drugs that are deemed nonessential and don’t appear on insurers’ lists o f approved drugs such as those for male impotence, baldness or wrinkles are even more expensive. Presi- dent Clinton wants “affordable prescrip­ tion drugs” to be included in a restructured Medicare program.
