in this country. It used to be that
fam ilies w anting to adopt could
w ait a long time. N ow , it is children
w ho are w aiting for families. The
need to get them out o f orphanages
and into adoptive fam ilies is quite
urgent. F or som e children, inter
country adoption is the only hope
they have.”

dren overseas since 1956. H olt’s
programs emphasize caring forchil-
dren with warm, affectionate care
while trying to place the children in
permanent families as quickly as
possible.
Holt’s first priority is to return
children to birth parents; however,

fiunilies in the child ’ s birth country
or with families in the UnitedStates.
Holt has placed 50,000 children
