After an incredible and very suc
cessful season, the Runnin’ Bulls
qualified for theJiationals by win
ning the SW Washington/Oregon
AAU State Tournament.
The N/NE Portland Team, with
the help o f some parents and commu
nity support, raised the funds to be
come the first basketball team from
the MLK Neighborhood to represent
Oregon in this AAU National event.
The Runnin’ Bulls finally met their
match in this tournament o f 77 teams
which mostly were from the Mid-
West and Eastern states. For a team
coming into the tournament with no
national experience, it was an eye
opening experience.
After adjusting to the very differ
ent Eastern-style o f play, the team
played well.
It was a learning and unforget
table experience for the boys who
had the opportunity to play against,
S.E.I President Tony Hopson (left) & V.P. Marshall Haskins. Welcome Jackie Joyner Kersey to S.E.I. 's Comm. Challenge Golf Tournament.
H eld a t The Reserve Vineyards and Golf Club. The tournament raised $60,000 to support S.E.I.'s award winning program.

The Runnin’ Bulls worked hard

their academics. The team didn’t do
as well as they wanted to, but have
set their goals to return to the tour

with more experience and knowl
