The Jefferson Dancers have
added another stunning success to
their two decades of international
recognition. In their first appear
ance at the by-invitation-only 4th
National High School Dance Festi
val, the twenty-two dancers from
Portland’s Jefferson High School
received a rousing, standing ova
tion from 1,500 of their peers for
their performance of In the Mood.
The New World School of Arts and
Miami Dance Futures sponsored the
Dance Festival, which took place
during the last week of March in
Miami, Florida.
The Festival included two-and-a-
halfdays of masterclasses taught by
some of the nation’s finest dance
instmctors, student performances and
auditions for college scholarships.
The concluding event, a final gala,
featured top student performers.
Am ong those selected to ap
pear at the gala were Jefferson
D ancers Damon and Demetrius
Keller. These high school seniors
w ere honored as outstanding stu
