mission will consider recommenda
tions dealing with the county’s des
ignated rural centers at a public hear
ing on Thursday, March 26, 1998 at
6:30 pm. The hearing will take place
at La Center High School, 725 High
land Road, La Center.
The recommendations are the re
sult ofa citizens task force, appointed
by the Board o f Clark County Com
missioners, that has been working
over the last five months. Its recom
mendations address the rural centers
o f Amboy, Brush Prairie, Chelatchie
Prärie, Dollars Com er, Hockinson,
and Meadow glade.
The recommendations generally
involve allowing sm aller lot sizes for
residential developm ent an minor
changes to the rural center bound
aries and the amount o f land desig
nated as commercial.
Beginning March 9, maps show
ing the specific proposals are avail
able for review at Clark C ounty’s
Community Development Depart
m e n t, 1408 F ra n k lin S tre e t,
Vancouver between 8 pm and 5 pm.
In addition, on March 12 only, the
maps will also be available for view
ing between 6pm and 8pm at the
same location.

Internet users can now track the
actions o f the Vancouver City Coun
cil via the city’s web site.
Every two weeks, following the
Council’s regular Monday meeting,
summaries o f the two previous City
Council meetings are posted on the
Internet.
The minutes note the council mem
bers attending, list the names o f citi
zens and other interested parties who
addressed the council and summa
rize actions taken by Council at work
shops and at regular and consent
meetings.
“This addition to the city’s web
site further expands citizen access to
local government,” says Vancouver
City M anager Vernon E. Stoner. “A
concise, factual accounting ofCoun-
cil actions is now as close as the
nearest computer with an Internet
connection.”
Vancouver City Council meets in
regular session the first and third
Monday ofeach month at 7pm. Con
sent meetings are held the second
and fourth Mondays at 6pm.

Improvements
An open house is planned to
present alignment alternatives for
improvements to Fourth Plain Bou
levard and Covington Road. Citi
zens will have the opportunity to
comment on roadway widening and
design im provem ents. The open
house will be held March 10, 1998,
at Covington Junior High School,
11200 Rosewood, Vancouver, from
6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The road alignment alternatives
and design options that will be pre
sented are the preliminary recom
mendations o f the citizen advisory
committee, known as the Commu
nity Design Team (CDT). There are
multiple options to be considered
and issues such as bicycle and pedes
trian facilities will play a role in
choosing a final alternative. Citizen
input at the March 9th open house
will strongly influence which alter
natives are forwarded for further
study.
Fourth Plain
Three options have been devel
oped for widening Fourth Plain Bou
levard. In addition, a “couplet” op
tion is being considered which would
make Fourth Plain one-way east-
bound and Rosewood one-way west
bound.
Covington/109th Avenue
The options being considered for
Covington Road/109th Avenue north
ofFourth Plain will realign Covington
Between Fourth Plain and 107th re

well as improved traffic flow.
