Separate sealed bids for the Housing Authority of the City of
Salem will be received by the City Recorder, Room 205, City
Hall, Salem, Oregon 97301, until, but not after 11:00 a.m.,
local time, March 25, 1998, at which time said bids will be
publicly opened and read aloud in the City Coucnil Chambers,
Room 240, City Hall, for the project specified herein.

Work Description: Work consists of interior and exterior build­
ing alterations at four Housing Authority houses for the pur­
pose of increasing handicap accessibility and modernizing
building systems, under a "lump sum” contract as shown on
drawing and specified within the bid documents.
Bids must be submitted on the bid forms furnished to bidders.
Bid forms shall be submitted in a sealed envelope plainly
marked “BID ON HANDICAP ACCESSIBILITY IMPROVE­
MENTS AT FOUR HOUSING AUTHORITY HOUSES - BID
NO. 978181 ”, and show the name and business address of the
bidder.
A PRE-BID CONFERENCE will begin at 835 Royalty NE,

1998. A tour of the project sites will follow the pre-bid confer­
ence. Only one orientation will be held. The entire pre-bid
conference is expected to last approximately two hours.
A surety bond, cashier’s check, or certified check of the bidder

have their security refunded to them when the contract has

to enter into a contract and provide suitable bond for the faithful performance of the work in the
event the contract is awarded them. Funds for the improvements are available, and monthly
payments will be made by check.
The successful Bidder must be registered, or shall become registered, with the Construction
Contractor’s Board as required by ORS 671.530. Bidder is not required to be licensed under ORS
468A.720.
The Contract awarded for this project will be financed with a grant and loan from the Rural
Development (formerly FmHA) branch of the United States Department of Agriculture. Prior to
any Contract Award, com pliance with all USDA/Rural Development requirements will be verified.
Similarly, all project payments, change orders, and associated paperwork will be subject to
USDA/Rural Development review and approval prior to becoming effective.
