potential applicants find snappy,
easy-to-read information about Dell.
The site has several leading-edge
features, such as online audio and
video interviews with employees.
Applicants can browse current
jo b openings, use the “ R esum e
Builder” and submit a resume online
to Dell.
The site also contains informa­
tion regarding Dell’s corporate phi­
losophy, benefits, current job open­
ings, an overv iew o f the central Texas
lifestyle, general job hunting and in­
terview tips and much more.
Dell Computer Corporation has
grown quickly during the past few
years.
From fiscal year 1995 to 1996, the
number of Dell employees grew more
than 24 percent worldwide. To con­
tinue hiring at that pace requires de­
velopment o f innovative solutions to
make it easier to apply.

Formed
This spring, Oregon funders ot
training and technical assistance for
nonprofit community development
organizations form ed the Oregon
Community Development Training
Consortium (OCDTC). Likely the
first o f its kind in the nation, this
unique Consortium will invest more
than $200,000 in training and tech­
nical assistance in the 1997-98 fis­
cal year to bolster the capacity o f
community-based organizations that
seek to develop or revitalize low-
income communities through afford­
able housing and economic devel­
opment programs.
The Consortium is a public-pri­
vate collaboration convened by The
N eighborhood Partnership Fund o f
the Oregon Community Foundation.
The C o n so rtiu m ’s other p riv ate
funders are the Network for Oregon
Affordable Housing (NOAH), a con­
sortium o f Oregon banks.
“Through the website, Dell wants
to ensure that Dell is not only a great
e m p lo y e r, but a p referred em ­
ployer a place where people want
to work,” said John Cone, vice presi­
dent, Dell University and College
Recruiting.
Competition for qualified techni­
cally-oriented employees is greater
than ever, and the Internet is becom­
ing an increasingly popular job search
medium.
In 1996, more than 4.000 resumes
were submitted online to Dell; and
the number is growing larger.
Every day more people use the
Internet to look for work and thou­
sands o f college students enter the
workforce.

Legacy Emanuel Healthcare
Scholarship has been awarded to
high school seniors who reside in
North and Northeast Portland and
are planning to study for a
Sports Medicine
Pre-Med
Radiology
Nursing
Psychology
Psychology
healthcare career. The scholarship is
$ 1,000, renewable for up to four
years, and the funds may be used for
tuition, books and other fees. Informa­
