Photo by David Cooper New Line Cinema’ s smart, sexy, romantic comedy. Love Jones, set among the over-educated and un der-employed in downtown Chicago, stars Larenz Tate and Nia Long. This film w ill be opening in area theatres on Friday, March 14, Struggling photographer Nina Mosely (Nia Long) and struggling writer Darius Lovehall (LarenzTate) have a lot in common. Passionately committed to her art, Nina is fed up with her jo b as an office gofer for a fashion photographer, and Darius has quit his job at The Chicago New C ity to write a novel. But these tw oaren’texactly prime candidates for a serious love affair, Darius, the ladies man, is trapped by the perpetual coolness o f his presen tation, and silky smooth when it comes to concealing vulnerability. As for Nina, who was recently jilte d by her fiancee M arvin (K h alil Kain), she doesn’t believe that a relation ship fits into her life right now. Deftly capturing the rhythms o f modern courtship, the film breaks away from the stereotypical portrayal o f African American life by focus ing on a world seldom seen in cin ema -- young, intelligent black men and women who discover you can never underestimate the power o f a love Jones. New Line Cinema Pre sents Love Jones, written and d i rected by Theodore Witcher, And Addis/Wechsler Production.
