S u n d a y tde Z 2t& Drammy-award winning Oregon Children’s Theatre (OCT) opens its world stage premiere of Little House on the Prairie January 12 at Portland Civic Auditorium. This original stage adaptation re­ counts Laura Ingalls Wilder’s har­ rowing and heartwarming story of herpioneerfamily’s move west. Spe­ cial musical highlights include tradi­ tional folk songs and Native Ameri­ can rhythms. Laura Ingalls Wilder was bom in 1867 and died at the age of 90, after writing numerous children’s books providing a first-hand picture of American pioneer life. Wilder com­ pleted the eighth and final book in the Little House series at the age of 76. The NBC-TV series entitled Lit­ tle House on the Prairie was based on a compilation of episodes from the Little House series. Oregon Children’s Theatre pre­ sents quality stage adaptations of the best in children’s literature. “We’re especially excited about this produc­ tion since Little House has consis­ tently ranked as one of the ’most wanted’ productions in our annual teacher surveys,” said Sondra Pearlman, OCT Executive Produc­ er. “Little House continues to have a tremendously popular following among both children and adults.” Approximately 42,000 area students will attend 14 sold-out school per­ formances of Little House. HBO’s Friday late-night series Russell Simmons’ DF.F Comedy All-Star Jam is back for its seventh season when the hit comedy show returns with 12 brand-new weekly editions, starting Friday, Jan. 24 (midnight-12:30 am .
