Girl Scouts add director of
membership
Sheree Jackson has joined C olum ­
bia River Girl Scout Council, Inc, as
director o f membership marketing.

development, extension and m ainte­
nance o f girl and adult membership.
Although a marketing emphasis iscom-
mon in corporate environments, it is a
relatively newconceptinnot-for-profit
organizations.”
Jackson and her team o f m em ber­
ship directors and support staff assess
each com m unity’s needs and develop
specific recruitment and retention strat­
egies to increase participation in the
Girl Scout Program.
Before joining Columbian River
Scouts, Jackson served as director o f
membership and marketing for the
Western Reserve Girl Scout Council
in Akron, Ohio, where she was respon­
sible for the media County Service
Area with a m em bership o f more than
3,0(X) registered Girl Scouts. Jackson
managed all aspects o f the delivery
and extension o f the Girl Scout Pro­
gram including managing and moti­
vating a large volunteer base, presen­
tation o f the Girl Scout Program to
United W ay and other funding organi­
zations, and establishing and nurtur­
ing collaborations.
Jackson is an advocate for children
and w omen’s issues. A former Brownie
Girl Scout, she is dedicated to equip­
ping girls with the information and
skills needed to make informed life
decisions. “W orking for Girl Scouts
allows me to make a positive impact in
the lives o f girls,” says Jackson. “Girl
Scouting provides opportunities to
develop a sense o f values and self-
worth in an all girl environm ent.”
