Cher stars with Chazz Palminteri and Ryan O ’Neal in Faithful, a black-comedy about a wife who dis covers that her husband has hired a hit man to kill heron their twentieth wedding anniversary. Produced by Robert DeN iro and Jane Rosenthal, the film was directed by Paul Mazursky (Enemies, A Love Sto ry)- This sexy, comedic thriller writ ten by actor-writer Chazz Palm interi (A Bronx Tale) takes a satiric look at the institutions of trust, honor and fidelity when matrimony leads to murder. The film opens as depressed housewife Margaret O ’Donnell (Cher) comes home from shopping to find a hit man (Palminteri) wait ing for her. A suspenseful game of seduction ensues as Tony helps Margaret regain her self-respect, and the victim helps the hit man confront his own demons. The plot takes a memorable twist when Margaret’s not-so-innocent husband, Jack (O'Neal), arrives on the scene. No wonder the befuddled assassin periodically telephones his psy ch iatrist (played by Paul Mazursky) for advice on how to handle the increasingly confusing situation. Executive produced by Peter Gatien (A Bronx Tale) and co-pro duced by Geoffrey Taylor, Faithful is presented by New Line Cinema and Savoy Pictures and was re leased nationwide by New Line on April 3, 1996. After 20 years of marriage, Mar garet O ’ Donnel I (Cher) thought she was the target of her husband’s af fection. She was only half right.
