Narrated by Gillian Anderson, co-star o f Fox’s The X- Files, Spies Above makes its world television premiere on Monday, March 11, from 10:00-11.00 PM (ET/PT) and 2:00-3:00 AM (ET/PT). This program examines how and why surveillance satellites were developed and used by the United States and the former Soviet Union, and how space-based intelligence gathering changed the course o f history. Inventions Exhibit Comes To Portland N O W O P EN Food For The Soul! J â The Black Inventions Museum trav- elingexhibit featuring the accomplish­ ments o f African Americans in the field o f technology and product inno­ vation is coming to Portland during Black History Month courtesy o f the “ I Have a Dream” Foundation o f Ore­ gon. The exhibit will be housed in the community room o f Immaculate Heart Catholic Church, 2926 N. Williamson Friday and Saturday, Feb. 23 and Feb. 24. The special works promote posi­ tive images and self-esteem in chil­ dren and adults and teach people o f all nationalities about the contributions Africans have given to society through­ out the world. The “ I Have A Dream” foundation assists more than 400 students in Port­ land in academ ics, helping them grad­ uate from high school and continue career training and education at the college level Phil Christian, “ I Have A Dream” project coordinator, launched the ef­ fort to bring the museum to Portland after viewing it on tour in Dallas. The Black Inventions Museum was founded tn 1988 in Los Angeles by children’s author Valerie J.R. Banks, also known as Saia Sakmut Shabazz- Bey. The museum became a non-profit corporation in 1993 and has travelled to some 14 cities annually since its inception. The Black Inventions Museum is a mobile museum which highlights in­ ventions o f Africans and African Americans with special focus on in­ ventions created before, during and after slavery. The exhibit will be open public from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 23 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 24. There is no admission charge, but donations will be accepted. e _ S o u I !
