A t the height o f last Tuesday’ s big
w ind storm, nearly 350,000 residents in
Oregon and Southwest W ashington were
w ith o u t power. Portland General E lectric
said it was the w orst damage the ut i I ity had
experienced since the 1962 C olum bus Day
Storm. Hundreds o f crews w orked 18-
hour shifts and by Sunday nearly all ser­
vices had been restored.

tw o weeks, and the voices o f north
P o rtla n d ’ s Beach E le m e n ta ry
School choir.
