The tree planting is the first o f Pacific Power’s “GreenStreets” program which is designed to give commercial streets in north­ east Portland both an economic and environ­ mental boost. The utility's contribution of $ 10,000 helps pay a part o f the planting costs. “Pacific Power selected Alberta Street for its first “GreenStreets” project because the street is blossoming with new business growth and community improvement efforts, said Holden. “The trees w ill provide shade to local residents, help reduce cooling bills for businesses and add beauty to the neighbor­ hood.” The community expo will be begin at noon at the Texas Annex, 1625 N.E. Alberta St. It will feature live blues and jazz, as well as exhibits on topics from weatherization to social services.
