The suspects ran to a waiting
car, occupied by a w hite m ale driver,
described as being in his 3 0 ’s and a
H ispanic m aie passenger, described
as being in his 3 0 ’s, 5 ’8" tall, m edi­
um build, with a blue ja ck e t and a
mustache. The suspects left the scene
in the care, w hich was described as
a blue 1980 C h ry sler C o rd o b a,
W ashington license 767D LQ.
C rim e S toppers is offering a
cash rew ard o f up to $1,000 for
information, reported to Crime Stop­
pers, that leads to an arrest in this
case, or any unsolved felony crim e,

versity, gives the program high

The evaluation concentrated on the
progress o f these platoons, includ-
I ing selection, adm ission and orien-
I tation, m ilitary training, rehabi!ita-
I tion,
work and post-prison perfor-
I m ance o f graduates. It also address-
I es the fiscal impact o f the program
in term s o f bed day savings.

The evaluation delves into many

m it Program . It discusses and m ea­
sures the success o f the p rogram ’s
statutory com pliance with enabling
legislation, the delivery o f services
to inmates, behavioral change an d ,
progress o f inm ates, and post-re­
lease behavior o f inmates.

Benson Summer School Registration Opens
Students in grades eight through
12 can take a broad range o f courses,
both for first-time credit or m ake-up,
in the Portland School D istrict’s Sum ­
m er Scholars program, July 6 through
Aug. 16 at Benson High School.
Tw o three-w eek sem esters are
scheduled M onday through Friday
from 8 a m. to noon.
Students may register to earn up
to one full credit in the program ,
w hich is expected to draw som e 500
students from both w ithin Portland
p u b lic sc h o o ls and n e ig h b o rin g
school districts.
“ Benson H igh School offers ex­
ceptional technical facilities forclass-
es such as com puter-assisted design,”
said C het Edw ards, program coordi­
nator. “ B enson’s central location and
accessibility to the Max line also
