ebruary 1995 is an opportunity to recognize
and reflect on tbe accomplishments o f A fri­
can Americans. Because o f this The Orego­
nian in Education has developed and pro
dated And Still I Rise, a 16-page newspaper in
education curriculum supplement.
And Still I RUe profiles African Americans who
have overcome obstacles to achieve new rotes for
themselves and others. These people may not be the
best known in their field, yet they contributed in a
unique or special way. Each set o f profiles is accom­
panied by newspaper in education activities utiliz­
ing the Oregonian.
Due to a generous grant from Portland General
Electric, more than 15,000 students have received
And Still I Rise. This curriculum supplement w ill
provide educators and students with a springboard
for classroom discussion, interaction, research and
an opportunity to develop awareness, understand­
ing and an appreciation o f African Americans.
