R andy is healthy, plays well
w ith other children, and can en ter­
tain h im self rather w ell. H e enjoys
playing w ith anim ated toys, riding
his trike, looking at books, and fish­
ing w ith his foster dad. T his w arm ,
friendly little boy has a contagious
sm ile and a positive ou tlo o k on life.

S ix -y ear-o ld Jorge and four-
year-old Jessic a are a b ro th er and
sister pair w ith diverse p erso n ali­
ties but an unusually co h esiv e sib ­
ling relationship. T hey are am ong

aw aiting adoption.
W hen first rem oved from an
abusive and neglectful hom e, Jorge
w as an extrem ely w ithdraw n, frig h t­
ened little boy. Since then, he has
developed better self-confidence and
has learned m any skills. A lthough
on the reserv ed side, Jo rg e enjoys
cooperative play w ith oth er c h il­
dren. H e also plays w ell in d ep en ­
dently, keep in g occu p ied for hours
w ith his little arm y m en. Jorge likes
to be helpful around the hom e.
V ibrant and outg o in g , Jessica
can be a non -sto p little chatterbox.
Jessica likes to play w ith o th e r c h il­
dren, but has had som e d ifficu lties
w ith peers du e to her tendency to
keep adults w ell inform ed o f w h a t’s
g o in g on. Je ssic a enjoys shopping,
d ressing up, and playing w ith Barbie
d o lls. L ike her brother, she enjoys
b eing o u td o o rs and riding a bike.

q u ick ly , Jorge and Jessica are on
target acad em ically and develop-
m entally. Both have m ade trem en ­

past, and will co n tin u e to grow and
