Microwave on High (100% power) 6-to-7 minutes, just until pum p­ kins are tender when pierced or gently squeezed. Cool. • Slice off tops and scoop out seeds and pumpkin meat, leaving shells intact. Reserve tops. • Use dessert plates and arrange pumpkin shells in middle o f plate. Place a large scoop of D reyer’s Grand Pumpkin ice cream in the center of each pumpkin. • Pour warm caramel or bourbon sauce over ice cream and around pumpkin on dessert plate. Dust with cinnamon and arrange pumpkin tops to the side of shells. • Serve immediately. Warm Caramel Sauce Ingredients: (Can substitute prepared caramel sauce) • 1/4 cup better or margarine • 1 cup packed light brown sugar • 1/2 cup heavy cream Caramel Sauce Method: • • • • • In a 4-cup glass measure or deep microwavable bowl, microwave butter on High (10% power) 45 to 60 seconds to melt. Add brown sugar and cream and whisk until blended. M icrowave 2-to-2 1/2 minutes more until bubbly and slightly thick­ ened. Stir once during cooking. • Serve warm. Makes about 1-1/3 cups. NEIGIIRORIIOOD RECLAIMS STREETS FOR CHILDREN ON HALLOWEEN On Halloween night, residents of North Portland's Boise N eighbor­ hood will take back their streets for the children of the community. The Central Albina Safety C om ­ mittee. in association with Housing Our Families and Custom Marble, is organizing a Halloween Party and Safety Walk. At 5:15 p.m. adults and children will gather to celebrate the holiday at a free party held at 4(XX) N. Shaver. Festivities will includeacos- tume contest, face-pain,ing. games with prizes, and treats. At 7:30 p.m area residents will join togethertosym bohcally reclaim their neighborhood from gangs, drug dealers, and violence. They will walk as a group through the streets to show « 4 their pride in and commitment to the neighborhood. Children will trick- or-treat along the way and everyone will be encouraged to wear costumes.
