o f the tw entieth century.
William Franklin Graham, bet
ter known as Billy Graham, is con
sidered by many as the face and
voice of evangelicals in America
today. His career spans more than
five decades and at 75 years o f age,
millions still hang on his words.
C onfidant to popes and p resi

one o f his crusades. E vangelicals
believe that conversion, the act
o f accepting Jesus as your per
sonal Lord and Savior, is a pro
cess every man, woman and child
needs to go through in order to
be saved. G raham ’s crusades are
centered around bringing about
those conversions. Each night,

Scheduled
A traffic safety fair for children will be held Thursday from 10 a.m.
to 2:30 p in. at E & M Community Market, 909 N. Killingsworth St.
Bicycle safety, pedestrian safety, bicycle repair and free bicycle
helmets will be distributed to low income children who live at the nearby
Piedmont Plaza apartments.
More than 150 kids and Piedmont Plaza supporters are expected to
attend. The event is being coordinated by the Portland Office of
Transportation’s Traffic Management Bureau under the director o f City
Commissioner Earl Blumenauer.
The event also serves as reinforcement ofthe new state bicycle helmet
law that went into effect on July 1.
Children Need To Learn About
Food
Children should learn there are
no bad foods, only bad eating habits.
Instead o f banning certain
foods, parents can teach children
to make wise choices by including
them in menu planning, grocery
shopping and meal preparation.
Said Dr. Corinne Montandon, a
nutritionist at the USDA’s Child
ren’s Nutrition Research Center
at Baylor College o f Medicine in
Houston.
Montandon encourages parents
to use the new USDA Food Guide
Pyramid for menu planning; it helps
children visualize food groups.
