that began 700 years ago. The Festi­
val can be com pared to a harvest
festival. The Portland event intends
to capture the spirit o f the Festival in

The music bandstand at Peninsula
Park’s will be the site of a concert Sunday
from 5 pm . to 6:30 p.m. by the Cultural
Recreation Band. Band members have
received formal instruction in piano, mu­
sic theory, band instrumentsandensembles
by teachers who are musicians from both
classical and jazz backgrounds.
The program also places value on
individual and group self esteem, disci­
pline and motivation.
The public is invited to attend to
celebrate and encourage these children.
