The u n ion represents about 2,000 K aiser Permanente w orkers h o ld in g jo b s ranging fro m cooks and housekeepers to o rd e rlie s , groundskeepers, c lin ic assistants and transportation w orkers. The three-year contract that L o ca l 49 members ra tifie d provides an im m ediate 1 percent across-the- board raise, fo llo w e d by 1.5 percent increases in the contract's second and th ird year.
