Street Pre-school E ducation project (PEP).
O n T hursday, June 16, OPB w ill inaugurate the internship w ith a
reception at its Broadcast C enter in Portland. T he Charles S w in d e lls
fa m ily , and others who have contributed to the in te rn sh ip ’ s endowm ent,
w ill be honored at the event. In January, OPB announced a $26,000 g ift
from S w in d e lls, m ore than h a lf the total funds needed to endow the
in te rn sh ip fund.
The internship was named in m em ory o f Jon T u ttle , a Peabody
A w a rd -w in n in g broadcast jo u rn a list. T u ttle died o f leukem ia in 1991
after m ore than 25 years w ith K G W -T V News and O P B ’ s T elevision
