Scope Of W ork: The City of Portland is looking for one or more independent technical consultants to design renovation plans and observe construction activities for the North Precinct building located at 7214 N. Philadelphia Ave. consultants must have experi­ ence with seismic retrofit, historic building renovation, and Am ericans with Disabilities Act (ADA) regulations. The scope of w ork for services includes but is not limited to: 1. Seism ic upgrade of the structure to com ply with current building codes. 2. Accessibility upgrades to bring the building into compliance with the ADA. 3. Renovation of locker, shower and rest room facilities. 4. Design and construction of holding cells. 5. Conversion of locker room to office space. 6. Upgrade m echanical and electrical system s as required. This historic building was erected in 1907. It is a two-story with basem ent wood-fram ed structure with brick and stone veneer and a metal roof over exposed heavy tim bered wood trusses. Much of the interior was remodeled between 1974-77. A recent seism ic study indicates the structure does not meet the lateral force requirements of the Dangerous Building Code (PCC 24.15.060). Police program needs for this building are changing with the opening of the new North East Precinct in June. The consultant should be able to work with the site to determine actual requirements, identify permits, prepare speci­ fications, prepare cost estimates, and assist in the project to endure com pliance with regulations. The consultant would also be qualified to coordinate any construction and site improvements.
